I wanted to share something that came up in a training I hosted recently…
something that has had a number of people message me saying how it made them see their current business strategy in a different light.
The thing that stuck was ‘Instagram may not be here tomorrow, but your website will be’.
SO many business owners focus on one platform and a lot of the time that does tend to be Instagram.
Now what I always say to my mentoring clients is that you can’t just rely on ONE platform.
Social media is great for audience growth but it’s FAST! So fast paced that your post you’ve spent ages writing and thinking about posting will be gone in the blink of an eye.
Yes, reels are great. They can massively boost your audience and get more eyes on your brand. This is what we want! However, it’s really hard to get the right people using social media alone.
Now, your website should be working for you. It should be where a good chunk of your clients come from because they’ve found you online. But this isn’t always the case because so many people launch a website and just leave it, not giving it the tlc it needs to really work for you.
So a few tips for you if you want to get more eyes on your brand and more traffic to your website (the right traffic too – yep, I’m talking about those dream clients!)
Use your key words!! You should be using your keywords throughout your website copy, in your meta descriptions, your page titles and blog posts. This is the fairy dust that will help to get more of those perfect clients eyes on your website from Google searches (and of course other search engines) – want more info on this? Name your images! I cannot stress enough how important this is! Those magic key words should be used for naming all of your images too. Why spend the time naming your images? Because lots of your potential clients will put their problem or the service they are looking for into a search engine and head to the images. If your images are NOT named correctly, they will not show up! Please please name your images correctly, not just the camera file name. This alone will have a massive positive impact on your website.
Post fresh content to your website, again using those key words. Google loves seeing websites that have new content and if you’re using your key words it will see you as an expert in your field. So when someone is searching for what you do, you are FAR more likely to show up in search results. This can be adjustments to your pages, adding pages or more importantly, adding new blog posts. Ideally you want to share a new blog post at least 3 times per month. Once per week is great!
Make it easy to get to your website! Instead of using Linktree in your bio, create a links page on your website and use your own website link address in your bio instead. Don’t give Linktree the traffic when you can get people straight to your website!
Share links to your pages in your stories. It’s so easy to put the link sticker and you’re missing out if you don’t! If posting something on Facebook or LinkedIn, share a link to your website so your audience can get on there with ease. No one wants to research and spend their time trying to find your website.
