There’s a stage of business growth that doesn’t get talked about very much.

Nothing is wrong.
Revenue is coming in.
Clients are booking.
From the outside, things look good (sometimes even great).

And yet… something feels off.

Not in a dramatic way.
Not in a burn-it-all-down kind of way.

More like a quiet knowing that the version of the business you’re running (and the version of you that people are seeing) no longer feels like the fullest expression of who you are.

This is the messy middle.

The in-between stage where you’ve outgrown where you were, but you’re not quite playing in the biggest rooms yet.

When “small business” no longer stretches you

For many women I speak to, this stage appears subtly.

You might notice that small business networking spaces no longer excite you.
Advice that once felt exciting now feels… basic.

You find yourself editing parts of your thinking, your ambition, or your perspective so you don’t feel “too much” in these spaces.

At the same time, you’re taking bigger risks.
Setting braver goals.
Moving differently in your business and life.

There’s growth happening – it just hasn’t fully landed yet.

And that can be uncomfortable.

Your business is working – but your brand hasn’t caught up

One of the biggest patterns I see at this stage is not a lack of strategy, effort or capability.

It’s brand misalignment.

Your results show one thing.
But the first impression your brand gives tells a different story.

Your website, messaging, visuals, tone (even the way you show up) may still reflect an earlier version of you. A version who was building, proving, establishing.

Not the woman you are now.

And in an online world, first impressions matter more than we like to admit.

When someone encounters an outdated version of you, even subconsciously, there’s an energetic leak. Not because your brand is bad (often it’s perfectly fine) but because it no longer matches your leadership.

“Fine” rarely helps women who are ready for more.

Nothing is broken, but staying the same is the bigger risk

This is the part that’s important to hear:

This stage does not mean you’ve failed.
It doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful.
And it doesn’t mean you need to scrap everything and start again.

In fact, nothing is broken.

But staying the same. Staying visible as a version of yourself you’ve already outgrown. This can quietly cap what’s available next.

Many women wait until frustration forces a change.

Others feel the expansion before urgency arrives.

They listen to the knowing instead of arguing with it.

Trust the knowing

If you recognise yourself here, trust that.

The sense that there’s more room for you.
The feeling that your ambitions are expanding faster than your current container.
The awareness that you’re ready to move differently. Not harder, not louder – just truer.

This is leadership work.
Identity work.
Alignment work.

And it rarely shouts.

It whispers first.
